The Asthma Education Clinic is pleased to announce Asthma Update 2009, a two-evening live teleclass. This course, specially designed for Asthma Educators and Health Care Professionals, will bring you up to date on the latest asthma research and topics of interest and concern. This live course is presented over the phone. There are no travel costs involved, and no time lost away from home. This course is usually held in the fall. Format As with our other teleclasses, the class format will be interactive, allowing you to ask questions at any time, and receive immediate answers. Because of the interactive teleclass format, we accept only a limited number of persons. Course dates Click here for our Course Schedule. To register, call (780) 988-6014. The course fee is $252. This includes tuition, all course materials and shipping and handling. Payment may be made by credit card, bank draft, company check or approved purchase order. Cancellation will be accepted up to one week before the start of the course. An administrative fee of $50 will be charged for all cancellations. Substitutions may be made up to one week prior to the start of the course for a $50 fee. Certificate of completion Participants earn 4.8 CE hours. The Asthma Education Clinic Ltd. is a provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing. Instructor The course will be led by Gaynor Govias, Chief Instructor at The Asthma Education Clinic, and developer and instructor for The Clinic's many asthma courses, including Asthma 401, the preparatory course for asthma educators planning to take the AE-C examination. Ms Govias is a graduate of the National Respiratory Training Centre (U.K.). She has been a Certified Asthma Instructor since 1994, and was Director and Vice Chairperson of the National Board, Allergy Asthma Information Association. Ms Govias regularly makes presentations at national conferences, conducts national and international workshops, and provides consulting services to various organizations. A certified teacher with over 30 years of teaching experience, she has worked as a consultant in the development of teaching materials, teaching programs and workshops for both children and adults. She has over 20 years of experience in designing and administering asthma educational programs for various special groups. She is the author of numerous publications and articles for asthma educators, and co-author of Asthma Education: Principles and Practice, which was published in August 2005.
