Welcome to the Textbook Update Service for Asthma Education: Principles and Practice.

The textbook Asthma Education: Principles and Practice was first printed in 2005. A second printing was done in 2006. However, the field of asthma and asthma education is rapidly evolving and publishing a new version every year is not only time consuming but also expensive. Since buying a new textbook every year is not practical, a new way had to be found to allow sections of the book to be updated as research results were announced. This is it. A textbook update service to which you can subscribe.

 

How it works

• Every year, at least 6 updates to the book will be published. These updates may be one or more pages in length. They will provide you with new information that either replaces or supplements the information in the textbook Asthma Education: Principles and Practice.
• As each update is published, it will be made available on-line in PDF format at this web site. You will be sent an e-mail telling you that an update is ready for downloading. You can download the update at any time, print it, and file it in a folder that you keep with your textbook. Complete instructions will be provided with each update document.
• Typically, each update will replace one or more pages in the textbook. In some cases, the updates will consist of all-new pages to be added to the textbook. Each update will refer to a particular page(s) in the textbook and will provide you with the new reference on which the update is based.
• Your subscription gives you access to all updates:
  - published from the date of your subscription onwards
  - published in the previous six months.

For example, if you subscribe on July 1, you can also download any updates that were published in the preceding six months (i.e., from January 1 onwards).

 

How we prepare the updates
We constantly monitor asthma medications, techniques, research findings and published papers, and determine whether the textbook requires to be updated. If it does, we then prepare the update material (complete with all appropriate references), have it checked and reviewed, and then place it on our web site.

As a subscriber, you will also be able to buy one copy of the next edition of the textbook at a savings of 25% off the cover price. (To qualify for this discount, you must be a subscriber at the time the next edition is published.)

 

Subscription fee
$75 a year.
